Our client, Common Purpose is a not-for-profit leadership development organisation. Their objective is to develop leaders who can cross boundaries. A not-for-profit, we run programmes in over 70 cities worldwide. Founded in 1989, over 4,000 people become Common Purpose Alumni every year.

They are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious professional to join them as Senior Programme Co-ordinator in their Leeds & Yorkshire team in the UK. The role will be based at their lovely new office in Bradford and represents a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to take the next step in their professional career. Full of energy, drive and with a can-do attitude, you will work closely with the Senior Programme Director in Leeds & Yorkshire.  

Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced environment you will be responsible for ensuring that their Leeds & Yorkshire team is supported to meet business goals. They are looking for someone who shares their values and is passionate about leadership development. The successful candidate will have experience of working in an events co-ordinator, project management or training programme co-ordinator role.

Main purpose of the role

The main purpose of this role is to co-ordinate activities for Common Purpose programmes across Leeds & Yorkshire and to support the business and curriculum development work of the Senior Programme Director. This includes both open programmes and customized work. The role may also be required to work and travel across the UK from time to time supporting other members of the wider CPUK team as part of Common Purpose’s flexible resource model.

Scope of the role

A self-starter you will have a strong ability to work independently and on your own initiative. You will have strong communication skills, and experience in event co-ordination and working on a daily basis with systems and data. You will be responsible for sales and marketing co-ordination of our programmes, relationship management, along with taking ownership of general office administration.

This role entails, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for relationship management, sales and marketing co-ordination through proactive communication, project management and use of internal systems.

  • Put together and support events, programme days and other activities in the cities, under the guidance of the Senior Programme Director, to help deliver high quality experiences for our customers.

  • Create and maintain effective and transparent systems to ensure the Senior Programme Director is supported effectively and able to meet as many organisaitons in Leeds & Yorkshire as possible.

  • Carry out research prior to meetings, attend meetings where required, carry out effective and prompt post-meeting follow-up .

  • Regular, professional and effective communications and relationships with key local customers and stakeholders (e.g. programme participants, advisory group members, contributors and alumni), ensuring co-ordination of approach.

  • Ensure invoices are issued and accurately followed up in a prompt manner.

  • Support the Senior Programme Director to deliver objectives through the completion of administrative tasks, and database and diary management.

  • Support other UK teams when needed.


Qualifications, experience and competences

We will consider candidates from any background provided they can demonstrate the relevance of their skills and experience and a sense of entrepreneurialism and creative strategic development. 

The person appointed will essentially demonstrate:

  • Ability to work in a small team with self-direction.

  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload  and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

  • Excellent event planning and organisation skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Self-starter who is target-driven and able to motivate oneself when working on one’s own – must be comfortable in a target oriented environment.

  • Friendly and professional interpersonal skills, on the phone, by email and face-to-face.

  • An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours.

  • Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships with their team and with diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures.

  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.

  • Experience of proactively identifying and solving problems.

  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office. 

Qualifications, experience and competences      

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in any subject/

  • Event organisation experience.

  • Good knowledge of the area, its key issues, and significant organisations.

  • Experience of working in an office/sales based environment.

  • Experience of working remotely with colleagues in different locations.
