Design Office Manager


A highly skilled Engineering Design Office Manager is required for one of our fantastic clients based in Halifax, this is a key role within the company reporting to the senior management team.

The company has an international reputation for its own core product range which is primarily for export. It also works with external customers products in its contract manufacturing division, commercialising new concepts through to manufacture.

The company has a progressive attitude with a strong proven background in process and production equipment across a variety of markets including printing machinery, electric heating systems, and energy storage and leisure products.


Duties will include:


Acceptance of project briefs, liaison with external customers and internal departments, managing the work and performance of the Design Office to ensure all completed work is correct and meets the required standards, working to strict deadlines and budgets on multiple projects simultaneously.

Working with the senior management team in the planning, organisation, coordination of projects, activities and resources in the design team.

Comfortable with detail and complex situations, with the ability to evaluate a situation or process and contribute to or create outright solutions.

Manage the maintenance of the Technical Project files.

Maintain the company’s existing product range.

Good mechanical design experience across a range of disciplines.

The  ability to converse / coordinate with different engineering disciplines.

Good knowledge of diverse manufacturing methods.

Develop engineering skills and knowledge in other areas of the business.

Provide training, guidance and appraisals to team members to maximise productivity and efficiency within the team.

Excellent leadership, management, presentation and communication skills.

Ideally you will have a relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or HND and be technically focused and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Must have extensive solid works 16 experience with the ability to produce assembly and detail drawings, working in advanced surfaces would also be an advantage.

Must have good knowledge of MSOffice (word and excel) use of an integrated business system i.e. Sage 200 or similar.
