Job Description
We are in the market for a Test Equipment Engineer for a company based in Halifax who design and manufacture highly engineered products and services for the oil & gas and power industries.
Purpose of the role:

Organise, plan and facilitate the testing of all valves built and tested at the company ensuring all the required test equipment in available at the time valves are built and available to test. Carry out test equipment design and complete design reports to support the company in the event of a catastrophic failure during test or a valve failure in service.

Ensure all required paperwork, reports and records are maintained as required.

To follow all Environmental and Health and Safety requirements

To support in building of spares and testing of any spares where necessary.

Ensuring spares are progressed in a timely manner.


  • Verification that all necessary test equipment is available and located in time for the testing of all valves built and tested at the West Yorkshire plant.
  • Verification that test equipment to be used at the plant is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Carry out improvement studies and introduce better methods into the test process to improve time to test and analyse failure rates to identify target areas for improvement.
  • Raise NCR’s for all test failures and ensure actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Check and verify QA test procedures to ensure all test equipment is identified in a timely manner and outside support such as chart and data recording equipment is available at the time of testing.
  • Check test equipment after use and highlight any issues or concerns with the test equipment. Raise appropriate paperwork to deal with concerns and red tag affected test equipment and place in the red tag holding area.
  • Test equipment should be stored in a safe manor and in an identified location.
  • Assist 8D task member currently working on test rate failures, work with them to introduce improvements with in the process / area.
  • Support with build of valves and testing of any spares, ensuring all relevant paperwork is signed and updated where appropriate.
  • Witness of ASME N-Stamp Valves during testing when required to support quality.
  • Any other reasonable duties falling within the capability of the role holder.
  • Ensure all work personally undertaken within the company is carried out in compliance with current H&S rules and company safety systems, and is in line with the requirements of the duty of care document.
  • Key accountabilities that will most likely be on annual and mid-year review
