Job Description
 

Purpose of the Role

Hands on role comprising physical machine assembly & fitting plus the management of fitters for the same. Requiring the interpretation of engineering drawings and to be able to assemble component parts of special purpose machinery from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of fitters providing guidance/know how and mentoring where required.
  • Assemble and fit machinery to assembly drawings.
  • Lead installation of machinery on customer premises adhering to customer specific site requirements and processes.
  • Read and interpret engineer assembly drawings to assemble machine parts and machines.
  • Identification of components from locations on site from a GA drawing.
  • Operation of hand tools and equipment required to assemble machine parts/machines.
  • Operation of lifting equipment required to assemble machine parts/machines.
  • Conduct risk assessments on machinery.
  • Comply with company Health and Safety policies and procedures ensuring others work to the same and build areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure compliance with the management systems requirement for the Environment and Quality by working to company policies and procedures ensuring others work to the same.
  • Liaise and work in partnership with the Client and Client technical team during the course of the project.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required.
  • Support business development activity and identify scope changes.
  • Strive to continually improve processes gain efficiency.
  • Proactive identification of near misses to drive down accident rates.

Key Skills

  • Competent (and confident) in all technical aspects of mechanical engineering (ideally gained within a similar environment)
  • Experience of working within a multi –skilled environment (i.e. knowledge of but not necessarily an expert in electrical and pneumatic components)
  • Experience of working on projects including working to tight timescales throughout the project life cycle.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Machine Safety.
  • Empathy and proactive communication with other functions and projects.
  • Good communication skills, confident and capable in client facing role.
  • Team-player.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide.

Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC qualified in relevant mechanical engineering discipline
  • ISOH SPA Passport (Desirable)
  • FLT Training (Desirable)
